Sophie's Choice - William Styron A comment on a conversation about A Mercy got me to thinking about this novel, which I read waaaayyyy back in high school. I remember my head under the covers, tears streaming down my face, needing to finish even though it was late late late at night. Sophie's choice ripped my heart out even then, when I was so constrained by my own ignorance and inexperience.

This is another one of those novels I need to go back and re-read, to see if my original impression holds up.

I remember too that I made a vocabulary list from the new words I learned in this novel. I wonder if Styron's vocabulary will impress me as much today.
